I gave blood at the hospital, i didn't see any needle changes. i am afraid of contracting hiv. there was a handle on the needle and he placed the blood tube there. can the previously used needle be used a second time even if the nurse is distracted?

Nobody ever gets HIV from having blood drawn. Don't worry about the details of how it is done. This hasn't happened for over 30 years, since re-used needles became a thing of the past.
