Vitiligo & eczema: There is some evidence that both vitiligo and eczema may be related to gluten sensitivity or allergy. The data is yet to be completely worked out, but it may be worth a try to start a person suffering from both on a gluten-free diet. Please discuss this with pediatrician prior to making any major dietary changes. Nowadays there are many gluten-free products available in stores.

Derm. CORRECT: NOT caused by diet. Allergy testing should NOT be done on eczema. Gluten sensitivity causes dermatitis herpetiformis, not eczema. Allergy tests are totally useless in eczema. We are learning more about eczema and becoming much less interested in diet as any part of management. Your child might well have vitiligo. But consider PITYRIASIS ALBA which occurs with eczema and will slowly resolve.
