A member asked:

I was removing an iv cannula for a patient and the blood splashes on my eyebrow. i washed my eye after but i feel some of the blood got into my eye. can i contract hiv?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If the patient has HIV, you are at risk. If you work at the hospital, your hospital can test the patient. If the patient has HIV, you should get post-exposure prophylaxis. Talk to the employee health folks at your hospital.
