Can mupirocin ointment be used in the nose to treat turbinate hypertrophy?

Generally turbinate hypertrophy is an acute response to a viral infection (a cold, covid, RSV) so mupirocin, which is an antibiotic (antibacterial) ointment particularly well suited for staph (including MRSA) infections, is not likely to help. Turbinate hypertrophy can be complicated by a secondary bacterial infection but it would generally be isolated to one area, not all the turbinates.
