Congenital Berry Aneurysms may last a lifetime, and not be uncovered unless they enlarge and compress cranial nerves, or become large enough to rupture (critical event). Acquired aneurysms develop secondary to trauma, infections (bacterial endocarditis), connective tissue disease, and hypertension (Charcot-Bouchard), and typically are a problem at the time.
