Taking prednisone, albuterol inhaler, benzonatate, amoxicillin and a breathing treatment. x-ray shows lungs are clear. did covid tests=negative. diagnosed with acute bronchitis adult.+never smoked. coughing too much when trying to sleep. ideas???

To treat asthma exacerbation/flare up, which is inflammation of the lungs, I prescribe 5 days of steroids and inform to take albuterol around the clock every 4-6 hours with a short follow-up. Acute bronchitis is a viral infection that can have cough linger for weeks. Albuterol will not improve bronchitis. Amoxicillin is for a bacterial pneumonia. Multiple treatment options were already prescribed

Cough worse when lying down could be reflux. Consider trying something like nexium or Zantac per package directions and see if that helps. If that helps only partially, additional GERD management may be needed. If no help at all, consider cardiac work up.
