A member asked:

Had vitamin d -oh25 level checked with 2 different laboratories. one said a level of 22 and the other a level of 34. been feeling very weak in legs. started taking vitamin d 5000 iu daily. can low vitamin d cause muscle weakness in legs?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

While 22 is low end of normal, 34 is generally considered to be a good vit d level. Did your doctor suggest that you take a supplement? It is possible to take too much vit d in a supplement, and I suspect that is what you are doing. Look elsewhere for the cause of your leg weakness and discuss all supplements with your physician
