This can be caused by a sporadic new mutation or passed in a gene from one parent. If so, the chance of another kid to get it is minimal. If you are not affected and the mother has it or is a silent carrier there is a possibility the next kid could be affected or a carrier. A consultation with a geneticist at a medical school or Childrens' hospital would be helpful.
