I've been having eye redness for a number of months. i was diagnosed with a bacterial infection and corneal pannus in both eyes. i don't wear contacts. labs did not indicate any autoimmune conditions. what are the most common causes and treatments?

By UPTODATE: chronic irritation and recurrent corneal infiltrates can lead to scarring and development of a superficial corneal pannus (“pseudo-pterygium”). I wonder if the primary bacteria could be identified by the exudate culture for the appropriate topical antibiotic +/- systemic antibiotic. You have to follow your eye surgeon closely and if possible, you should consider a second opinion.
