Localized skin eruptions like this are usually due to an allergic response/contact dermatitis to a triggering agent. Disrupted skin can also become infected by surface germs. Many will fade if there is no continuing contact with the triggering agent over a 2-week period. Keep it clean and apply mild steroid cream and it may improve faster.
