A member asked:

My gestational age is 22 weeks, my last period was 6/8/22 what would fetal age be since pregnancy is measured from the first day of lmp?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Traditionally we calculated dates from the LMP, which assumed conception two weeks and a standard 28 day cycle. Since not all cycles are standard this was inherently imprecise. These days we determine dates from early ultrasound, whether that is consistent with the LMP or not. In your case the fetal age remains 22 weeks even though you are 23 weeks from your last period.
