I recently had a sleep study (no apneas) and o2 level dropped to 81%. i was placed on oxygen. is this something that needs further investigation?

Were you place on O2 during sleep study or at home? I would discuss with your sleep Dr. Why did O2 drop with no apnea? Do you also have COPD or CHF? Or are you living above 6000 feet. Whoops forgot you were in SC. ;-)

If accurate that's a very low O2 saturation. I understand you showed no apneic episodes. Do you have emphysema other lung disease or congestive heart failure? You could repeat the study or consult a pulmonologist directly for evaluation and advice.
