Hot water erodes the skin of it's natural oils that keep the skin healthy. This event causes dry skin, itching, and irritation. Try to take a hot shower, your skin on your legs won't be exposed to the hot water that long.

Bathing removes natural oils from the skin...this can contribute to itching. Try applying a skin hydrating lotion , such as Vaseline Intensive care lotion, after bathing. This can help prevent the itching.

Yes, there’s even a medical term for it, “winter itch”. First, consider taking only lukewarm baths or showers to minimize the itch. Second, consider using lotion after every bath. I am partial to Aveeno lotion because the colloidal oatmeal helps decrease the itching, but I’m sure there are other equally effective alternatives.
