There's no way to even guess without a lot more information about the cause of the sepsis, the bacteria involved, how it is being treated, underlying health conditions and their treatment, and so on. It could be imminently fatal (in advanced cancer, for example) or not very serious, with expected recovery nearly 100%. Discuss with the patient's doctor. Good luck.
