Often: Depending on how severe the bodies response was and how much damage was done, many people return to normal lives. Starting physical therapy as soon as it is safe to do so, minimizing exposure to benzodiazapines (ativan, valium) and paralytics, early nutrition by a feeding tube, etc all seem to maximize recovery and minimize harms.

Yes: Most cases of uncomplicated sepsis recover completely. Even if you have severe sepsis with organ system failures, complete recovery is still possible though it becomes less likely the more systems are involved.
