Terrible pressure in epigastric region and into sternum. awful pain went to er the other day, dr said pleuritis maybe. is there any other cause for this? it is extremely painful & i have no illness recently that would cause this? ekg & chest ct good?

It doesn't seem like the pain of pleurisy which is in the chest, very sharp & provoked or aggravated by a deep breath. Fever may also occur. In your case,I would be thinking of spasm of the pylorus (outlet of the stomach) or lower esophagus. A gastroenterologist could evaluate and advise you if symptoms recur.
