With the most commonly used HSV antibody test (HerpeSelect®, the one done at Quest and many other labs), an HSV2 result over 1.1 is technically positive, but is conclusive only for values of 3.0 or higher. At your level, there's at least a 50% chance the result is false and you don't have HSV2. It has nothing to do with your folliculitis, which has no effect at all on HSV test results.
