When i had knee surgery the doc used lidocaine - as they prepped me i remarked on how cold the prep was - he said you felt that? i gave u enough lidocaine ito drop an elephant - now i know why i hate dentists- does not work on me - alternatives?

No need to hate dentists! You had knee surgery for Pete's sake! There are so many local anesthetics that can be used. It's possible the anesthesiologist missed the mark or you're resistant to lidocaine. Hopefully you will not need knee surgery again.

Inform your Dentist. It is possible that you are one of those people who does not react classically to Lidocaine. Your Dentist has other local anesthetics available.
