A member asked:

Is azelastine or flonase better for swollen/inflamed turbinates?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends. Azelastine is an antihistamine nasal spray that would be a good preventive taken prior to exposure to allergens. It can reduce aggravation by new exposure. Flonase is a nasal steroid that helps reduce inflammation and increases cell integrity. Either will function well depending on the situation and pattern of use. Nasal steroids often take 2-3 days to produce any noticeable relief.
