A member asked:

I've seen my primary twice now about it. they did a digital rectal exam once and an anoscope and said i have bleeding hemorrhoids. i noticed a lot of blood in the toilet today (like filled the bowl bright red) and i'm scared. my doc isn't worried?

Bright red blood originates from near the outlet. It reflects tissue injury near the outlet. Blood from higher up would be darker, red to maroon or black due to enzyme action & more worrisome. As long as you body replaces the blood lost you can do well. For long term management see a proctologist who can fix your hemorrhoids.

Bleeding from hemorrhoids can make a person anemic. You should consult a different doctor, preferably a surgeon who can treat the hemorrhoids. Wish you good health!
