A member asked:

I'm 68 with a psa of 1.0 in 2021, but it jumped to 1.8 in 2022 - 3 weeks post removal of a urethral stent (in for 2 wks) for kidney stones. the test was repeated 4 months later, but it rose to 2.1. should this recent increase be a cause for concern?

I would discuss with someone who has felt you prostate and knows meds you are taking. Get a family history of prostate trouble. You did not say if you are African American.

This should be crelated with a rectal prostatic exam and if there is no family history of prostate or breast ca. then there is a choice of followup in 6 months or doing a PSA II test which gives probabilities of having a tumor or not.
