Fibrosis and cirrhosis are the final outcomes of most liver diseases. There are too many conditions which involve different structures of a liver such as liver cells, biliary ducts, portal veins, hepatic veins, interstitial structure, etc.

The most common changes seen are different stages of inflammation, necrosis and steatosis, which are many times transitional changes to fibrosis/ cirrhosis of the liver.
