You did not tell us your ethnicity. Does you family come from those that tend to have thalassemia? Are the ranges normal for men like you who live where you live? I would ask the Dr. Having never seen a case of thalessemia in over 60 years of practice it must be rare. And is not seen in many areas of the world. Unless you genes came from the areas of the world where it is common.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your results are consistent with beta thalassemia minor, a benign disorder. No need to test more. Wish you good health!
