A member asked:

I am o- sometime ago i had a d&c after 4 weeks, and the person responsible for the pregnancy is o+. is there a chance my body developed antibodies after that procedure? as i am trying to get pregnant now but afraid i might lose the pregnancy?

Yes. However normal prenatal care monitors for these antibodies which can be assessed during pre-natal visits. This is not a rare event and there are treatments available to make a healthy pregnancy & outcome possible.

Your doctor can test your blood for antibodies to D. If you get pregnant, and the father of the baby is Rh +, you should be monitored closely by an obstetrician to ensure that the baby is healthy. Wish you good health and a healthy baby!
