A member asked:

I had a heart cath through my wrist. during the procedure dr said, "your hand is about to feel hot." my hand felt like it was submerged in boiling hot water. i have had dye before. this wasn't the warm, flushing reaction to dye. what caused this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I haven't heard this type of response from patients who underwent radial artery approaches. It is a smaller artery than the femoral artery in the thigh. You may have reacted to the numbing injection, some radial artery spasm as well as to the contrast material itself. In the future I'll check with more people who undergo radial artery caths in the future.
