A member asked:

So i went for a ultrasound the other day and was told it was a twin pregnancy but there were two saks but only one baby developed i'd like to know if the other will develop or not or if the other twin could be hiding??

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Twins from fertilization of two eggs (fraternal twins) may have slightly different days of conception, and depending on the time of the ultrasound, produce different stages of fetal growth especially at the "5-6w" gestational stage of the ultrasound (showing one sac with fetal heart beats, and the other absent for fetal heart beats. Obtain a repeat ultrasound in two weeks to be certain.
