An external hemorrhoid that is thromboses or clotted can be incised , clot evacuated in the office of a colorectal surgeon with local anesthesia and take about 2 weeks to heal with proper care. If you have only a residual hemorrhoidal skin tag there is no reason to have any surgery. Best to see a CRS rather than a primary care doc for an honest evaluation and treatment.
