: As the wound heals and the scar tissue develops, there may be bumps, discoloration and other skin abnormalities. this reflects the growth of granulation (scar tissue) and the remodeling of the wound as it heals. Infections typically show as red areas (not bumps) that spread outward and discharge pus.
