Currently i am taking alprazolam 05 divided in two (025 in the morning and 025 at night). i have back pain, could i take ciclobenzaprine at night? maybe i could avoid the alprazolam dose and just have the ciclobenzaprine?

Alprazolam dose is small so the interaction between alprazolam and cyclobenzaprine is not that serious at your age so you can use them together at night but you should anticipate worsened side effect of either med such as drowsy or dizziness. However, if you want to be cautious, just take cyclobenzaprine alone. Why don't you take OTC analgesic (ibuprofen/acetaminophen) instead of cyclobenzaprine?
