Yes, this is possible, but at your age, deconditioning is more likely. If you are concerned about atherosclerosis, you should have yuor cholesterol and blood lipids checked and also get your ankle=brachial index done = the latter is a test for severity of peripheral vascular disease which is generally the result of atherosclerosis and measures the blockage of your arteries by ultrasound.
