Antibiotics are given for a specific disease on your body where applied, such as eczema which can occur in different locations. If for some reason you have another bacterial infection on your body where the same antibiotic is effective than it will work if placed on that area. Only the skin area that it is applied to will work, it doesn't spread to other areas.
