Can you test negative for hpv for 10 years then test positive on the next pap? been with the same person for 15 years. drs on here and the internet says its prob a new infection but also been told re activation of old hpv. this upsets a lot married?

This is the principle you and your husband need to understand: not all HPV carriers will have abnormal PAP smear but an abnormal PAP smear is most likely due to HPV infection. So to answer your question one more time you likely have latent HPV infection which did not manifest with abnormal PAP in the past but it does now due to weaker natural immunity when you get older or some other reason.
