Most hpv clears in a few years but does that apply to reactivation of dormant infection? wife last two years has had +test but paps have been normal. will she still clear it soon or does that clearance only apply to new infections. wife is scared?

Yes, it applies to longstanding dormant infections. But there is no way to know with certainty for any particular infection whether or not it may reactivate in the future. But usually it's not a serious problem if it does. Don't lose sleep over genital HPV: your wife needs to follow standard pap smear guidelines, otherwise no worries.
