This is a question best answered by the prescribing physician. Tapering the medication is one option and if seizures recur, medications will be adjusted accordingly. If she tolerates a taper, then the medication is gradually stopped. Watch for recurrent of seizure activity.

So sorry to learn of your wife's pregnancy issues. Prior to ending anti-epileptic medication, have a full re-evaluation with your neurologist and obtain an updated ambulatory EEG for at least 72 hrs. If no abnormal activity, a very slow taper of the medication can be attempted. This likely will take about 2-3 months to be on the safe side.
