Obviously not sensitive to hot/cold since the tooth had root canal therapy. If you have periodontal pocketing and the crown lengthening procedure alleviates the food/bacterial trap you should see relief. Very slight chance of a fracture since not sensitive to pressure, but you never know. If the tooth had 50% bone loss or more, consider an implant root replacement.

You are having a crown constructed over the tooth that needs more tooth structure for the crown to fit, that's why the crown lengthening procedure is being done. Tooth has no nerve in it, so pain is from gum inflammation and possible infection. Have a gum specialist[periodontist] examine you for possible treatment.
