It depends on what disease to treat. If patient has severe side effect of prednisone, an alternative medication can be used. Glycemia of 500 range is not acceptable so either hypoglycemic agents need to be adjusted accordingly or an alternative therapy should be considered in place of prednisone. Most of the time severe hyperglycemia only happens with loading dose, improved with maintenance dose.
