You need to know what is causing the Kidney 'swelling', the size and positions of the stones and in detail the 'investigative' procedure and why. You should have some routine blood tests before the procedure including coagulation profile and urine C& S.. Generally ESWL is not done for asymptomatic stones without a specific reason . No harm getting a second opinion. Good luck.
