A member asked:

Having an eswl & investigative procedure to find the cause of kidney swelling (neither ct scan or ultrasound showed why and non-obstructive kidney stones were seen). urologist only ordered urinalysis but no pre-op bloodwork. sound right?

You need to know what is causing the Kidney 'swelling', the size and positions of the stones and in detail the 'investigative' procedure and why. You should have some routine blood tests before the procedure including coagulation profile and urine C& S.. Generally ESWL is not done for asymptomatic stones without a specific reason . No harm getting a second opinion. Good luck.
