A member asked:

Sharp pain above knee and inside of left leg above knee. random sharp shooting pain. could this be a blood clot? or a muscle? or what else? im trying to put some ice on it now. i cant tell if its swollen or not?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

These symptoms are not characteristic of DVT or blood clot, but are more consistent with musculoskeletal causes. A superficial vein blood clot in the thigh would usually be clearly evident though. Calf pain and tenderness along with some lower leg swelling with or without ankle edema are more typical signs. However, an examination by a physician is recommended for diagnosis and advice.
