I am not sure if nerve block is used as a preventive treatment measure for migraine. Dr. Machanic, a great neurologist in this forum, may help to answer your question.

The classical nerve block procedures for migraine involve occipital nerve blocks. Sometimes unilateral injection helps, but better if bilateral. Successful blocks may last 3-4 months in some, but often durations over 6 months. Repeat injections may again help. However, excellent control may be achieved via use of CGRP agents or BOTOX. Work with a neurologist.
