Beside slightly higher than normal hemoglobin value, your blood work results are unremarkable. Poorly controlled asthma could be the culprit for higher hemoglobin value.

As has been mentioned your thick red blood level is most likely a result of poorly controlled asthma. You must get it under control if it's affecting your oxygenation. I strongly recommend consulting a pulmonologist to help get your asthma under control expeditiously.

52 yo male who recovered from a relatively mild case of Covid 10 days ago. Had bloodwork done 3 days ago as part of my annual physical. I noticed my HGB count of 16.4, RBC count of 5.40, and HCT of 47.5% were my highest ever. Is this from covid?
My past 2 blood work were microcytic hypochromic,but with good normal hgb and hct and wbc. High rbc . Neither the Er dr or my primary dr were concern or suggest any more follow up. Should i test for thalassemia?
