I had angioplasty stent in left leg in feb 2021and having severe pain in my side right above where it was placed. could this be a failed stent? hurts to sit, cough etc?

Clotted or failed stent should cause the symptoms of vascular insufficiency such as foot pain, change in skin color, etc. exactly the symptoms you had suffered before the angioplasty was done. Your symptoms seem not consistent with the leg ischemia but I think you are sick enough to see your family doctor.
