Yes, bile duct stone or pancreatic tumor causes acute cholestasis which becomes chronic if the obstruction is not relieved. We use this term, cholestasis, to describe the stasis of the bile in the biliary tract both outside and inside the liver then bile is overflowed to systemic blood which causes yellow skin (jaundice).
