What evidence there to support the theory that interstitial cystitis is auto-immume?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

IC autoimmune?: The cause of interstitial cystitis is unknown. Autoantibodies have been found in patients with ic, but their significance in the pathogenesis of ic is not clear. Clinical presentations and treatment response of ic and autoimmune diseases share similar characteristics. They can also coexist. Fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome are also often concurrent with ic.
