A member asked:

Hello, do damaged dendrites caused by alcohol heal, if you stop drinking? thank you?

If you have suffered cognitive or peripheral nerve problems secondary to excessive drinking, it is long overdue to stop alcohol immediately, but if you have a heavy intake, this must be done gradually to avoid withdrawal such as DTs. Start with AA and get your doctor involved. The extent of prior damage can be reversed, in part or whole.

Depends on the extent of damage, early lesions are reversible. Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it. It will destroy your brain cells, damage testicular cells that make testosterone, facilitate development of cancer in many organs, cause hepatitis, cirrhosis and pancreatitis etc. There is no safe level of alcohol intake. Quit while you are ahead.
