A member asked:

Best way to treat a second degree burn after the first day or two, still raw skin, painful. should i put ointment on it or will that make it worse? should i keep a bandaid on it or should i let it breathe? please help i really want this to heal?

The first thing to do do with any burn is to get the heat out of the body by using cold water protecting the tissue. Antibiotic cream should be used to allow heat to escape. Two days. Keep clean and use a topical antibiotic cream. Cover with breathable bandage Second degree burn might want to have a doctor look at the wound. Want to make sure structures beneath the skin need to be examined
