A member asked:

Is their a difference between a chest mri and cardiac mri or is it the same?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A cardiac mri generally uses a contrast material called gadolinium and concentrates on the beating heart only. A chest mri may or may not use gadolinium and doesn't concentrate only on cardiac structures or functions. The radiology department does what the ordering physician requests.
