Am 9 weeks pregnant and was found with uti of pus cells 10 to 15 and was given metronidazole, amoxacillin and paracetamol. my question is, is it safe for me to take metronidazole in my first trimester?

Yes, it's safe. Many years ago there were concerns about possible safety issue for the fetus from metronidazole, but it is now known there are no significant risks. But why metronidazole? Amoxicillin treats many UTIs, but metronidazole does not. Did you perhaps also (or instead) have trichomonas? Discuss with your obstetrician. Good luck.

Dont take the metronidazole. It is not advised in first trimester. Two meds to treat an asymptomatic pus cells in urine is overkill. Drink plenty of water. Get a urine C&S of a clean catch mid stream urine sample. and awit results before any tratment. Good luck.
