Having HSV2 roughly doubles the chance of acquiring HIV sexually. HSV1 has no such effect. But double doesn't mean very much. Even the most heterosexually active people have under one chance in a million of catching HIV. Double that is one chance in 500,000, i.e. almost zero. Take common sense precautions (careful partner selection, condoms) and you'll never catch HIV. Stop worrying.

Herpes does not make you prone to HIV. In all sex partners it is best to know their STD status. Oral sex and other forms are similar in infectivity.
