I have an 8mm lung nodule. what does the following mean? the cardiomediastinal silhouette is unchanged. 8 mm nodule overlying the right upper lung. no focal airspace consolidation, pleural effusion or pneumothorax. no acute bone abnormality?

Translation= everything looks normal except there is the 8 mm nodule. The radiologists get fussed at if they say normal, so the detail the normal features in their report.

With the exception of the 8 mm nodule, the study was essentially normal. There are specific follow up guidelines for such nodules based on size and risk factors and your ordering doc should be able to clarify.
