Delirium is secondary to any underlying disease state that results in abnormal brain function, and can be seen in a myriad of conditions. Successful intervention is based upon treating the underlying cause. One specific treatment is not available.

There are meds typically used to control delirium, specifically agitation, mostly antipsychotics, however as mentioned by Dr Machanic, delirium is typically triggered by medical conditions and/or drug toxicity and addressing its root, whenever possible, is best. There is no standard treatment otherwise, clinical judgment is always needed.
